Dairy Estrus (Heat) Detection

Catches a cow in heat during the short window that matters.

Strong theory Strong theory

The physics is solid; our own validation is scheduled.

A cow in heat moves two to three times more than usual and mounts other cows. The extra walking and those brief, tall mounting motions stir the signal in ways feeding and resting never do. It is a clear jump above that cow's own normal day — and the fertile window is only about eight hours.

In the physics: Estrus roughly doubles-to-triples locomotor activity and produces mounting events — brief, high-amplitude vertical micro-Doppler bursts plus stacked-silhouette RTI signatures distinct from feeding or lying. It is a clear behavioral-energy deviation from the cow's own baseline.

How the field becomes an answer

Doppler activity-energy integration per animal + RTI mounting-event silhouette detector per-cow rolling-baseline anomaly manifold (adaptive PCA+MVE) deviation score peak = heat alert; machine-vs-human discrimination logic reused to reject equipment/human motion

How we prove it

Own-hardware in free-stall barn vs pedometer/accelerometer collars + progesterone-confirmed estrus over a breeding cycle; WiMANS/CSI-Bench for multi-animal activity separation priors.

Who it is for

'HeatMap' — collar-free estrus detection for dairy breeders; tightens conception rates and shortens calving interval, the core dairy profit lever.
