How it works
Every person in a zone stirs the WiFi field a little — even someone sitting still is breathing. More people means more stirring, so the system counts heads instantly and feeds the number to the building's climate controls. CO2 sensors notice a crowd twenty minutes late; the field notices at once.
In the physics: Each moving/breathing body is a time-varying scatterer; aggregate Doppler energy 0.1-40Hz and multipath perturbation scale near-monotonically with person count (proven r=0.9). Breathing band 0.1-0.5Hz catches sedentary occupants that PIR misses.
