RotorPulse: HVAC Plant Health Drift

Warns weeks ahead that a fan, pump or compressor is wearing out.

Strong theory Strong theory live in runtime

The physics is solid; our own validation is scheduled.

Running machinery trembles in a steady rhythm, and that trembling makes WiFi reflections in the plant room flicker in time with it. Worn bearings and loose belts change the rhythm in small, telltale ways. The system tracks each machine's rhythm and flags the drift long before failure.

In the physics: Rotating machinery imposes stable, narrowband micro-Doppler tones (shaft rate + harmonics + blade-pass frequency) on reflected paths; bearing degradation adds sidebands and broadband energy, belt problems add sub-harmonics. Signature drift is mechanical degradation, not environment.

How the field becomes an answer

Micro-Doppler feature extraction (machine-vs-human already proven) adaptive PCA per-machine signature manifold with rolling baseline compartment Kalman + CUSUM on harmonic amplitudes/sideband energy over weeks (119-day drift control proves the long-baseline stability needed).

How we prove it

CSI-Bench machine-activity subsets for signature separability; own-hardware: ESP32 pair aimed at an AHU, induce imbalance with a clip-on mass and belt-tension changes, verify CUSUM detection lead time vs accelerometer ground truth.

Who it is for

For the O&M contractor: 'Vibration-analyst coverage of every fan and pump in the building for the cost of one accelerometer — failures announce themselves three weeks early over WiFi.'
