Rack Tamper Geometry: Door, Panel & Blanking-Plate Events

Knows when a specific rack door opens or a panel comes off.

Strong theory Strong theory

The physics is solid; our own validation is scheduled.

A server rack is a big metal reflector, and its door is part of that mirror. Swinging the door or removing a panel permanently changes how WiFi waves bounce around the aisle — a step change that stays even after the motion stops. The system records exactly which rack changed, and when.

In the physics: A server rack is a large metal resonant scatterer; swinging its door 90 degrees moves a strong reflector, creating a step change in specific multipath component delays (sub-ns to few-ns) and amplitudes — a static geometry change, invisible to Doppler once the door stops but permanent in the CIR.

How the field becomes an answer

CIR sparse recovery isolates per-path delays step-change detection on tracked path delays/amplitudes axis discovery ('poke-and-observe': open each rack door during commissioning to teach a labeled axis per rack) event classified and localized to a specific rack.

How we prove it

Own-hardware: ESP32 mesh in a rack row, scripted open/close of each door and panel 50x, confusion matrix over racks; CSI-Bench for CIR feature stability under interference.

Who it is for

Retrofit rack-level tamper detection with zero wiring — 'know which rack door opened, when, without contact sensors on 10,000 racks' — sold to the colo ops/security engineering lead.
