How it works
Opening a door does not just move a panel — it opens brand-new paths for the signal and closes others. Each door, window, and damper leaves its own repeatable mark on the echo pattern, even inside locked mechanical rooms. Read the marks, and you read the state of the whole building shell at once.
In the physics: An opening in the envelope is a boundary-condition change: opening a door/window creates entirely new propagation paths (diffraction through the aperture, reflections off the swung panel — often a strong flat scatterer) and deletes others. Each aperture has a characteristic, repeatable CIR tap-set signature; a metal fire damper changing state is especially prominent.

Own-hardware: 10-aperture office/home deployment, week-long confusion-matrix study against reed-switch ground truth under normal occupancy; ESP32-wall data to confirm through-wall aperture signatures survive NLOS.
