How it works
Fresh concrete is full of free water; as it cures, that water binds into the stone and the signal passes through more easily, along a known curve tied to strength. Groundwater soaking into a basement wall drives the signal the opposite way, from the floor upward. Both are slow stories the mesh reads patiently, day by day.
In the physics: Curing concrete loses free water to hydration: its eps_r falls from ~10-12 (fresh) toward ~4-6 (cured), a textbook GPR observable — through-slab and slab-reflected path delays shorten and attenuation drops on a characteristic curve tied to strength gain. Conversely, groundwater wicking into a basement wall drives eps_r the other way, from the floor upward.

Own-hardware: instrument a test pour alongside standard maturity sensors (embedded thermocouple/maturity method) and cylinder break tests; for intrusion, a sandbox wall with controlled water-table rise and TDR moisture probes as ground truth.
