How it works
WiFi waves travel differently through liquid than through air — the fluid in a bag stands out like a small beacon. As the bag empties, that beacon shrinks. The system notices and warns the nurse before the drip stops.
In the physics: Saline/nutrition fluid has eps_r~80 versus ~1 for the empty bag headspace, so the fluid volume is a strong, geometrically-localized dielectric scatterer; as the bag empties the reconstructed permittivity mass at the pole location shrinks and its scattering signature drops.
