A door or window is a big flat surface that bounces WiFi in a very particular way. Move it even a little — open it, pry it, prop it ajar — and those echoes shift measurably. Because the system reads the echoes themselves, it knows the state a window is in, not just the moment it moved.

In the physics: A door or window is a large planar reflector that defines specific multipath echoes. Rotating a door 10 degrees or lifting a sash by 5 cm moves reflection points tens of cm, shifting individual path delays by ~1 ns and re-routing which paths exist at all. Glass and wood panels also change transmission through that aperture. This is a static geometric change — invisible to Doppler-only systems but directly visible in the CIR delay set.

How the field becomes an answer

CIR sparse recovery (stage 1) resolves per-aperture path delays per-compartment Kalman tracks each entry point's delay signature (stage 6) instant anomaly for fast tamper via MVE (stage 3), CUSUM for 'left ajar for 3 hours' states.

How we prove it

CSI-Bench/OPERAnet door open-close activities as a sanity base, then own-hardware: 20 sessions of open/pry/ajar/remove-screen on 4 window types, measure delay-set distance vs baseline and false-alarm rate over a 2-week undisturbed control period (119-day drift control shows the baseline holds).
